What type of exercise program do I need to lose weight?

I want to start exercising after a few years of being a couch potato. I am overweight (not obese) and I need to lose weight, but I also want to do it to be healthy.
Should I start just doing cardio activities or should I incorporate weight training (like Nautilus machines) right away? Or should I wait a few months before I start with the Nautilus machines?
I would appreciate your help if you know about this stuff!

The best programs incorporate both. You need to do at least 1 hour of cardiovascular and 3 days a week of strength training. Anything less is just a waste of your time. For weights, do heavy enough weights so that you are exhausted at the last rep of an 8 rep set.

    Key to weight lose is cardio work out, plus weights, and eating heathy. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

    I would recommend spinning, always works, and you sweat an awful lot ;) Or if you have a exercise bike, use that for 30 min a day while watching a tv program! I lost 12 pound in a month! Or swimming once or twice a week!
    And to have those shoulders to die (Jessica Alba) use some loose weights and work your shoulders. Easy peasy ;) and just a 100 of those a day, and you will quickly see results!
    And eating well is also a good way to start! No crab after 6 pm! nd eat 4-5 SMALL meals a day!
    For breakfast: a fruit salad and a warm cup of green tea with no sugar.
    Lunsj: vegetables soup
    Dinner: lots og veggie, and a small peace of chicken breast and brown rice!
    And for meals in between, rice crackers, fruits, and lots of water, about 2- 2.5 liters a day!
    But be creative, it can be boring with the same meals every day, so pick your favorite healthy meals!
