If I re-install the original programs back onto my computer, will it get rid of a virus? My internet explorer is running very slow and won’t open sometimes. I installed 2 virus scanners and Malware. I was told to try Firefox, so I downloaded that. Nothing helped. Firefox is just as slow, and sometimes will not connect. If I re-install the original programs back on, will this get rid of the problem? I am so frustrated!
not necessarily. the only way to reset your factory settings is to reinstall windows, which will reformat your drive. if you choose to do this, back up everything you want to keep or you will lose it. after the install is done, scan your files for viruses, etc and you will probably see an increase in speed References :
If you have a virus and you can’t kill it then I am afraid the easiest thing is to reformat your hard drive and start again sorry!
I hope you have the serial code and original xp software - if so then go ahead and reinstall it this will wipe your machine (so make sure you have stuff saved off the computer).
Then you will have to build your system up from scratch, sorry.
Whilst you are messing why not try Linux, its another OS and its free and more stable, with not so many virus’ if any (Unbuntu would be a good start).
