What’s the difference between these 2 cardio programs?

I exercise on a treadmill and I had a small change in my program, which is :

I used to walk 30min (15min warm up - 15min at 4km) which covered almost 2km total distance, with no fatigue and not much sweat at all…

now I walk the same 30min, (15min warm - but 15 min at 5.2km) which covers almost 2.5km, BUT i am sweating and breathing much more (not to extremes, my heartrate is not much higher)

Question is : is it worth to stress yourself more and feel it more difficult to achieve ONLY an additional 0.5km distance in all?
which benefits more?

(i personally prefer the lighter 2km walk as i dont get tired at all, but then again, exercise should make you a little tired)

First of all, you are not covering a lot of distance, so that is not really a major factor. However, the more work you do, the greater the overall benefit to you in terms of improved health.
A little extra sweat will never hurt you, In fact, sweating is good for you because it shows that you are working harder. Your heart has to beat faster in order to supply oxygen to the muscles that are doing the work.

So, to sum it up, keep up the good work. Maybe we’ll make a runner out of you yet! :)

Good luck, and good running!
